Never-Before-Seen

Last Photos of Marilyn Monroe

ENCORE EXHIBITION

show extended through September 13, 2008

Andrew Weiss Gallery, Beverly Hills

In celebration of Marilyn Monroe's 82nd birthday, the Andrew Weiss Gallery will launch a landmark exhibition and sale of original photographs of Marilyn Monroe, open to the public June 20 – September 13th 2008 at their prestigious Beverly Hills gallery. The collection will include signed, unique printings of Bert Stern’s Last Sitting, never- before- seen in the United States. These photos, taken by Bert Stern, fashion photographer of Vogue magazine, were some of the last captured of the legendary star who died tragically only six weeks later. While some images were published in a well known portfolio, many of the remaining photos have never been exhibited, or made available for sale. This special show will feature some of those remaining photographs. Appearing nude and semi-nude, these portraits, un-retouched from the original camera negatives are some of the most revealing and seductively powerful images ever captured of Marilyn. Once sold, these one-of a-kind-photographs will not be seen again.

Presented by the Andrew Weiss Gallery, the Edward Weston Collection is one of the world’s largest collections of Marilyn Monroe and Hollywood original photography. The show will include works by the most important photographers of the time, spanning the entire career of Norma Jeanne to Marilyn Monroe. This unprecedented show will include original and rare photographs by Andre DiDienes, Laszlo Willinger, Tom Kelley, Milton Greene and George Barris, Bert Stern, and others.

In addition, the exhibition includes the first public showing of Allan Holzman’s documentary “My Marilyn.”  Allan Holzman was awarded two emmy’s for Stern Spielberg’s “Survivors of the Holocaust.”  His latest work, “My Marilyn” is yet unreleased and on view in its entirety in the gallery.

The Gallery is located at 179 South Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills.  For more information call (310)246-9333.

Special Exhibition hours T-Fri 11-6 PM, Sat 11-5 PM (or by appointment)
